KMA Open-API Weather Information based Performance Evaluation and Fault Detection Remote Monitoring System for Small and Medium-Scale PV Systems

Small and medium-sized unmanaged grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems are difficult to manage owing the installation costs of monitoring systems. Consequently, they can be left unattended for a long time following break downs. Thus, in this study, we developed low-cost remote system small-sized PV The proposed is equipped with failure detection algorithm based on simulation an active that accurately predicts power output under normal operating conditions. Additionally, recognize notify when actual generation abnormally low. To lower cost, utilized SBC as data server by edge computing designed using open-source software openHAB. Moreover, used open-API (ground weather observation data) provided Korea meteorological administration (KMA) obtain hourly (horizontal radiation, outdoor temperature, wind speed, etc.) free use analysis. Shewhart control chart was benchmark fault detection, where ratio measured simulated set observed value. From verification test systems, it confirmed effectively identify occurrence abnormal conditions, such open-circuit, partial shading, etc.
